Club Etiquette

Tending a new plant in the Memorial Garden

  • ARRIVAL: New arrivals should follow the signs to the office and check in.

  • REGISTRATION: Register on arrival. If this is your first time you will be asked to sign an understanding of our philosophy and a release of liability, along with answering reasonable requests for identification. Members also need to sign in and let management know of their presence.

  • PARKING: Please stay on gravel at any time the ground is wet. When ground is dry, parking is available on the upper side of driveway in the main area at an angle to the driveway. Angle park in the driveway leading to the clubhouse. In dry weather, sites along the roadway to the dam are available for small cars. Site holders and renters may park at their site. Please do not drive in the main grassy area or non-parking spots in cabin area!

  • ENVIRONMENT: You have come to a campground in the woods and can expect the joys and hazards normal to that environment. Hiking, sunning, relaxing, swimming, sports and games, and other activities are entered into at your own risk. Be aware of uneven ground, deep pond, poison ivy and wild rose bushes, and insects. Wildlife is generally harmless if left alone. Raccoons have been known to invade food supplies. Please keep food locked up.

  • NUDITY: It is expected that you come here because you want to be a part of the nudist experience. We are a nudist park and choose to be nude when the weather is appropriate. However, we give newcomers time to be acclimated. If a family member chooses to come along without full participation, clothing may be accepted for the sake of the family activity within limits. It is considered nudist etiquette to carry a towel to sit on. Wearing underwear, bathing suits, or body jewelry in the genital area is not considered appropriate attire.

  • TOILETS: A bathhouse is located on the far side of the clubhouse. Outhouses are located on various sites around the grounds. Report need for tissues or cleaning to the management. Spare tissues and cleaning supplies for volunteers are located in the small green shed in the middle of the camping area. "Mailboxes" in the toilets are for disposal of sanitary napkins, etc. Do not put any materials, garbage, or liquid chemicals into the toilets. Keep seats and doors closed. We use only white toilet tissue. Disposable diapers should be wrapped and placed in garbage cans or taken home. Parent shall accompany small children to toilets.

  • FIRST AID: Supplies are in the clubhouse in a cabinet with a red cross on the front, and a spine board is located at the registration area. Call 911 for emergency care. Phones are located in clubhouse.

  • CHILDREN: We welcome children accompanied by parents who are responsible for the actions of their children and should be aware of their activities and whereabouts at all times. Special activities are planned for children, but we are not babysitters.

  • PETS: Please see our Dog Guidelines page for our rules concerning pets.
  • PRIVACY: Respect the privacy of individuals and their property. This includes tents, campers, cars, cabins, etc.  Be aware that your children do also. We hope you will tell everyone YOU were here, but NEVER who else was here.
  • HIKING: There are hiking trails on the grounds and on the adjoining property owned by the Kern/Brown family. Wear a cover-up when in the vicinity of the roadway. Ask for directions. Nature walks are particularly enjoyable in the spring.
  • PITCH-INS: Our policy is that each participant provide a dish of food to feed themselves and party times five, sometimes following a theme. You may bring or purchase beverages for yourself as they are not regularly provided.  When the food supply is adequate, persons caught unprepared may eat with the group for an appropriate contribution to the kitchen fund.
  • COMMUNITY KITCHEN: The kitchen is available for the members use and you are expected to leave it better than you found it. Contributions help us maintain and improve the area and equipment.
  • CLUB STORE: A store is maintained with various items of camping supplies, paper goods, nudist books, magazines, and videos, and items of "nudist clothing."
  • TOOLS: Some tools are available for members' use provided that they are used properly and restored to proper location.
  • FIRE PITS: Build fires only in designated areas. Campfires are designed to serve several campsites. Exceptions for individual sites must have fire pits approved and be encased in rock and small enough to put out with a metal lid or tub and must be covered when you leave your site. Keep a bucket of water handy to your fire. Use dead wood on the ground for campfires. Do not burn treated wood or other toxic items.
  • FIREARMS: Firearms are not permitted. MOTORIZED VEHICLES other than transportation onto the grounds or for handicapped and maintenance require a permit.
  • ECOLOGY: We hope that you will make a habit of using biodegradable soaps and other items that will reduce the polluting of our environment. Several items will be available in the community store. No trees or other vegetation are to be removed or disturbed except with consent of leaseholder. (Ellyn) It is our policy not to use poison controls in our environment and we attempt to live in harmony with wildlife. Most pesticides and herbicides disturb the balance of nature and we are very discriminating in their use and it would be appreciated if you would refrain from using any.
  • FEES: If your membership is revoked for cause, no fees are refunded.
  • LEGALITY: The operation of a nudist club is legal in the State of Indiana and we are well accepted by the local community. All local, state, and federal laws are expected to be obeyed.

  • OVERNIGHT FACILITIES: Rental facilities of various types are available and fees and other information available on request. Facilities are basically for sleeping and some may contain minimal cooking items.

  • WATER: All the water that we use is hauled in and we request that you conserve it. Several faucets are available on the grounds, and showers are inside and located on the south side of the bathhouse, and a kitchen is located inside the clubhouse. Do not attach hoses to any faucets. We also have to haul out our waste water. We are unable to accommodate large motor homes. Medium-size RVs may be possible if space reserved. No permanent RVs over 22 feet and no water hookups.

  • CAMPING: Tent sites are available for overnight camping.  Permanent campsites are available with consultation with the management and payment of a fee. Applications are required for new sites, construction, or change in accommodations. Occasional campers may camp on a space available basis. We cannot provide any utilities (except possibly electricity on a very limited basis). A dump station is located along the drive behind the clubhouse. Do not dump any toxic chemicals; a donation for its use is appreciated.

  • SWIMMING: Children must be accompanied by an adult while in the pool area. The deck gate shall be closed at all times. No roughhousing in pool or on deck. Do not use any Styrofoam products in the pool. Remove any oils from skin before going into water. Bathing nude is required in the pool except babies not toilet trained should be wearing special swim diapers. Clothing shall not be left around the pool area, but left in cars or campsite. Keep all food, drink, and cigarettes away from water area. Do not swim alone. Swimming is not permitted in the pond.

  • POND: All children shall be accompanied by an adult on the dock and parents should be aware of when the children are around the pond. Please follow posted fishing regulations and do not add any fish to the pond. The pond is ten feet deep off the dock and a maximum of fifteen feet.

  • SMOKING: Smoking is permitted outdoors, taking care to avoid persons who are sensitive to smoke. No smoking in the clubhouse or at communal meal locations. The pavilion is available to smokers. Please use butt cans and ashtrays.

  • ALCOHOL: While alcohol is not prohibited, please keep its consumption to a minimum. No intoxication will be tolerated. Generally speaking alcohol is not included in our activities.
  • QUIET TIMES: Children and teenagers are expected to be asleep at reasonable hours. Adults may keep their own hours keeping extra quiet from 11:00 PM until 8:00 AM.  Radios and TVs, etc. volume should be for one's own ears only. Not everyone shares the same tastes. Mechanical equipment noise shall be minimal and weekend maintenance for necessity only.
  • DONATIONS: Donations of consumables and certain hard goods are welcomed. Please verify need and appropriateness of items to donate. Any items unidentified or unclaimed after the season will be utilized or disposed of by the club management appropriately.
  • VOLUNTEERING: We are a not-for-profit organization and do not have employees. We rely on the members and guests to be responsible for themselves, including cleaning up after themselves. While we don't require everyone to volunteer assistance, the club can function so much better if everyone contributes. Contributions are not limited to physical labor. A project list is frequently posted. Others have come up with innovative ways of contributing to the welfare and enjoyment of the group. Do not take any actions that are irreversible in case they may be deemed contrary to policy.
  • SNACK BAR: Snacks and ice are available. The honor system applies as to payment and preparation. A "tab" system is available to save you from carrying money around. Please use the  "money cans" to pay for ice cream, soft drinks, and small snacks. Pay for pizza, sandwiches, ice, and hard goods directly, or tally on "tab,"
  • GAME EQUIPMENT: Equipment is stored in various locations and should be returned to its storage place. Outdoor equipment and balls are in plastic boxes in play area. In fairness to all, do not abuse equipment.
  • LOST AND FOUND: A box for lost and found is available in the clubhouse. Items not claimed by the end of the season may be used or disposed of by the discretion of management.
  • GARBAGE AND RECYCLING: Garbage barrels are scattered around the grounds and certain cans are marked for aluminum cans to be recycled. We attempt to recycle other items when we can.
  • NUDITY/SCREENING: In the off season and during dry seasons, the foliage we rely on for screening is not adequate.  Be careful about where you camp and walk nude so that you are not seen by anyone passing on road. If you wish to hike off the property, be certain to have a cover-up with you. We do not want to offend any neighbors or create opportunities for criticism.
  • SOCIAL EVENTS: Members are invited to sponsor or organize special events. Members and visitors are encouraged to participate in planned activities.
  • GUESTS: It is your responsibility to inform your guests of the policies of the club and of the fees that may be required. They should register upon arrival. A guest of a member may have a one time free day. If you are loaning your cabin or camper, please advise management in advance. Overnight charges still apply.
  • TIME: Indiana now observes Daylight Savings Time.  We are now the same time as Ohio or Kentucky.

Always keep in mind making a good impression as a representative of Drakes Ridge and nudism.
