- Memorial Day Weekend - season
officially opens, open daily through Labor Day weekend.
Saturday, May 29: Chili Cook-off, Memorial Service, Trash
to Treasures Auction. Chili Cook-off: 6:00 pm
You have a choice of what to contribute. If you are entering the contest bring a large pot of chili by 5:45 ready to eat. (Each person who chooses to vote will be served a small cup of each chili.)
Please prepare a label that says your chili is HOT if that is the case. That’s chili powder hot! Your contribution should be kept anonymous. If you choose not to cook chili, please contribute salads or dessert. Please let us know early in the day what you will be bringing for this meal. Remember to bring some items for our Silent Auction Sale to benefit the Building Fund. If not sold, plan to take them home.
Memorial Service--15 minutes after dinner. This is the time that we remember the members who have passed away. We will gather at the Memorial Garden.
Sunday, May 30th: Annual Membership meeting,
Auction continued. Drakes Ridge Annual Meeting: 2:00 pm. This is a cooperative club and we are required by law to have an Annual Meeting of members. It is a time for report of events and finances, other member notification, and election of members of the Board. A quorum is required. Ellyn and Jerry will report on the succession plan to help keep the club operating after they are gone. At this time that will involve preparation for the opportunity of continuing the club into the future. Members will be asked to gradually learn various aspects of management to assist Ellyn and Jerry in the meantime and strive for a successful transition.
Two Board positions are up for election. Weather permitting, we will meet on the lawn.
Board Meeting: One half hour after Annual Meeting.
Pitch-in 6:00 pm: "Home on the Range." Think what cowboys might have eaten around the chuckwagon.
